Mindfulness practices have many health benefits including improved mental well-being, decreased stress levels and emotional reactivity, and reduced depression and anxiety. Mindfulness can be an essential tool when healing from past traumatic experiences and managing day-to-day stress. This group is intended to provide plenty of space for learning about the mind-body connection from a trauma-focused lens, gain knowledge about the nervous system, and provide tools to support healing from anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, and/or general day-to-day stressors.
Group sessions will meet monthly to practice mindfulness-based techniques in a supportive & therapeutic environment. Sessions are designed for beginners in any mindfulness practice and no experience is needed! Mindfulness practices covered will include breath work, chair yoga, and/or grounding techniques. Attendees will be engaged in self-reflection and participation in group discussion is optional! Attendees will also receive a handout that includes all the techniques covered during group session with step-by-step instructions on how to do the exercises outside of group sessions. Attendees are free to bring their own personal journal to take additional notes, but journals are not required. Extra writing utensils will be provided.
